Patent Path ("we", "us") is an online course for the Indian Patent Agent Examination. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Patent Path, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using Patent Path you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, the major you choose and your password (stored only in hashed form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Learning activity: the lessons and Vivas you complete, your answers, XP, streaks, hearts, achievements, your avatar and your time zone.
- Technical data: sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request) that our hosting providers keep for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To save your progress, show your stats and award XP, streaks and achievements.
- To show your name, avatar and XP on the leaderboard to other learners.
- To send account emails, such as confirming your email address or resetting your password.
- To fix problems, prevent abuse and improve the course.
We do not sell your information and we do not show advertising.
Cookies
We only use cookies that are needed for signing in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Patent Path. They handle your data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage (servers in Mumbai, India).
- Our web hosting provider, which serves the website.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
We may also disclose information if Indian law or a valid legal request requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile and learning history are deleted. Server logs and backups are removed on our providers' normal schedules.
Your choices and rights
- You can change your name and email address in Settings.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask any question about this policy, by emailing patentwebapp@gmail.com.
We handle personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to data is restricted so learners can only see their own records. No online service is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else.
Children
Patent Path is meant for adults preparing for a professional exam. If you are under 18, please use it only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For major changes, we will also let you know in the app or by email.
